The edge of Sutton Park

Meadow Platt and Wyndley Pool are now on the edge of Sutton Park, but the park boundary has changed over time.  This talk, by local archaeologist Dr. Mike Hodder, will explain the original extent of the medieval deer park, its subdivisions and its relationship to pools and the manor house.  It will describe how Meadow Platt was once divided into fields and the pools powered watermills.  How did the Royal Charter of 1528 affect this part of the park?

Refreshments available from 7pm. The talk will provide a background to the walk on Tues 15 Sept.
