Join local historian and writer Jen Dixon for a guided walk exploring Stirchley’s history through its landscape. Inspired by a route described 1,300 years ago, the walk traces of the area’s earliest recorded landscape through the modern suburb we know today.
Along the way, discover lost osier beds (willow grown for basket weaving), forgotten waters, and stories hidden within familiar streets.
The walk offers a unique opportunity to see modern Stirchley through the lens of more than thirteen centuries of history.
Meet at Stirchley Library at 2pm. The walk will end at Lifford Reservoir, and there will be a guide walking back to Stirchley Library. Parts of the walk follows the River Rea route, which includes steps. Please wear sensible shoes.
How to get there:
You can get to Stirchley Library easily by train or bus, with nearby options including Bournville Station, Pineapple Road Station (with a short walk), and local bus routes 45, 47, 27, and 11 (with a short walk down Pershore Road).
