Mediaeval Church Open
St Laurence Church is a Grade 1 listed building and is one of only four remaining mediaeval churches in Birmingham. The church was at the heart of the old village and is now in the Northfield Conservation Area. The Norman Door was part of the original C12th church and is the oldest piece of architecture in the city. The church is open to visitors to come and enjoy our wonderful church and the stained-glass windows by Pugin and Hardman. There will also be bellringing demonstration. On Sat 16 and Sun 17 Sept there are additional events.
Sat 16 Sept 4pm – Concert.
A concert in church with music being performed by Madera – a Baroque duo presenting a delightful programme of 18th century flute, recorder and clarinet music, including compositions by Handel and Mozart.
Sat 16 Sept & Sun 17 Sept – Scarecrow Festival
Scarecrow Festival in the church and churchyard and visitors are encouraged to walk around and enjoy the scarecrows.
All events are free, but donations are welcome to cover costs and help with the maintenance of the church and churchyard.
The church is a 10-minute walk uphill from Northfield Train Station and is accessible by many buses stopping on Bunbury Road, Northfield.
Refreshments available (drinks, biscuits, cake etc.) On Sat 16 Sept and Sun 17 Sept there are additional events.

All of the church can be viewed from level ground There are steps into the chancel/sanctuary and bell tower. The churchyard is level – but the very nature of a churchyard means that there are uneven grounds, grassed paths etc. which can be difficult in damp/wet weather.
