Drop-in to learn more about Birmingham’s Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers and try your hand at a heritage craft at our annual open day. Absolute beginners and families are welcome, as are more experienced weavers, spinners or dyers wanting to refresh their skills or learn more about the Guild. Refreshments (tea, coffee and homemade cake) will be available.
The Guild was founded in 1949 and was one of the founding guilds of weaving, spinning and dyeing which established a national journal and association in the 1950s. Visitors are invited to attend our annual open day, which will include:
– An exhibition of members’ work, showcasing weaving, spinning and dyeing
– Demonstrations and the opportunity to have a go at weaving, spinning and hapa zome (flower pounding), supported by one of our members.
– A sale of handcrafted work and craft materials.
How to get there. Car park available, and easy access by public transport: Kings Norton railway station or number 11, 45, 47 and 18 buses. The building is accessed through a car park directly off the high street / between shops.
