Digbeth Unlocked Canal Walk

Explore the hidden heritage of Digbeth on this guided canal-side walk led by the Canal & River Trust. The walk will uncover the fascinating history of Birmingham’s waterways, from their role in supporting industry and trade to the vibrant cultural landscape that exists today.

Participants will discover historic canal infrastructure, industrial buildings, surviving heritage features and stories of the communities who lived and worked alongside the waterways. The tour also highlights how the canals continue to shape Digbeth’s identity and contribute to the area’s ongoing regeneration.

This relaxed guided walk is suitable for anyone interested in local history, heritage, canals or Birmingham’s changing landscape.

Please note that the walk follows canal towpaths and urban footpaths. Some surfaces are steep and uneven, so please bare this in mind. Participants should wear suitable footwear and clothing for the weather. Please contact the organiser to discuss any access requirements.
