Alms-houses of Yardley

Alms-houses were originally established in the Middle Ages to provide housing and support to the poor, often the elderly. They continue today in their modern form, as sheltered housing. Built in 1903, these alms-houses are situated in the Old Yardley Conservation Area and are owned and run by the Yardley Great Trust, which has its roots in the fourteenth century. This is a unique opportunity to stroll around the grounds, view the communal areas of these beautiful alms-houses and chat with residents and a representative of the Trust.

Combine your visit with the other Historic Yardley events that day. Refreshments available (tea, coffee, cake) in St Edburgha’s Church (at cost)
