Vintage Trains Tyseley Locomotive Works is offering a behind the scenes guided tour of the original GWR 1908 built Tyseley locomotive depot archaeology, locomotives and rolling stock with historical information. The tour will include:

– Briefing in the original GWR staff club
– Visit to locomotive roundhouse footprint & turntable
– Visit to locomotive depot to view operational locomotives (but not the engineering workshop)
– The carriage shed
– The signal box

Please note that Tyseley Locomotive Works site is an operational railway environment, and appropriate safety precautions are necessary. The person making a booking must please ensure that all members of their party adhere to the following:

– The guided tour involves walking on uneven surfaces and includes rails, and steps. It is unsuitable for those who have mobility issues. 
– Sensible closed flat robust footwear must be worn.
– Appropriate clothing should be worn and avoid touching equipment or any vehicle to protect from hot surfaces, oil, grease and dirt. 
– As part of the tour is outdoors suitable wet weather clothing should be worn, when appropriate. 
– Children over 10 and under 16 years MUST be supervised by a responsible adult. This tour is not suitable for children aged 9 or under. 
– Tour photographs can be taken but are not permitted in the workshop or where staff are engaged in a working activity. 
– The use of video recording is not permitted. 
– No pets are allowed in the depot site except guide dogs.

How to get there: Tyseley West Midlands Trains station is a 5 minutes walk from the depot entrance. National Express West Midlands no. 4 bus stops outside Tyseley Locomotive Works, Warwick Road. Car parking is available at Tyseley Locomotive Works.
