The People & Places of Industrial Birmingham
This special one-off tour combo for Heritage Week will give you the chance to learn of the people that worked at the Roundhouse during its industrial hey-day and then head onto the water for a cruise with Brindley boats exploring the canals and places that boomed during the industrial revolution.
You’ll discover the Victorian people (and horses) who made the Roundhouse a 24/7 hub for the city of Birmingham. You’ll also meet a lesser-known – but larger than life – architect, and ponder the question: why is it round…?
And once you’ve learnt about the people of the Roundhouse, you’ll head out onto the canal for a special night trip with Brindley Cruises where you’ll learn about the places, the factories and the landscape before our time.
There is no on-site parking at the Roundhouse. The nearest car park is Arena Birmingham on Sheepcote Street, or there is some on-street parking in the streets around the building.
Duration: Around 2.5 hours
Suitable For: 12+, all under 18’s need to be accompanied by an adult.
Distance: Not far on foot! Most of the walking takes place at the Roundhouse, so maybe 1000.
