An illustrated talk by Churchwarden Chris Smith about the fine Arts and Crafts altarpiece or reredos. Five painted panels by Birmingham Artist Kate Bunce depict the infant Jesus cradled by the wings of angels before the kneeling figure of Mary, flanked by adoring angels, St Patrick and St Alban, all in a beaten copper surround by her sister Myra. Images of many wild birds and flowers are included in the panels, and we have Kate Bunce’s own description of the complex iconography of each panel. You can look around the church before and after the talk, the church is open from 5pm to 8pm.
The main entrance is up steps from Stanhope Street, but step-free access to the church is via a path beside the church from a gate on Stanhope Street. Toilets, including wheelchair friendly one, are available.
