Moseley Bog Bronze Age Sweat Lodge Reconstruction

We will be constructing a Bronze Age sweat lodge, based on archaeological excavations of “burnt mounds” like the ones found in Moseley Bog. You will be able to watch us building the sweat lodge in the morning, and you can come inside it to experience a Bronze Age sauna for yourself in the afternoon. The event will be on grass, which may be muddy if the weather is wet.

Guided walk down to the burnt mound.

Watch the preparations and construction from about 10am. Viewing and guided walk at 1pm. Sauna available to experience from 2pm.

No refreshments or toilets are available on site. Dogs on lead (fire hazard).

How to get there
Bus routes 2 and 3 pass by the entrance; Bus 11 passes 300m away. There will be someone in the small car park off Yardley Wood Road to welcome you and direct you to the reconstructed Bronze Age sweat lodge.

Organised by The Friends of Moseley Bog and Joy’s Wood Nature Reserve
