Led Ride – Birmingham Heritage Week Family Ride

Exploring Bournville’s heritage open day by bike with ecobirmingham and Bike Birminghamtheir trained ride leaders will take you along one of their fantastic ‘Secret Birmingham – Heritage Cycle Routes’ – This is a family friendly route, mostly traffic free via fantastic green spaces, shared paths and some quiet streets. 

Discover amazing local heritage points and hidden gems like St Lazar’s incredible Serbian Orthodox Church, hear interesting stories of the Northfield Library Suffragettes, learn about the ice age stones in Cotteridge and stopping at Bournville Model Boat House and lake to see and have a go at sailing their splendid boats. 

This led ride is your chance to learn new bike-friendly routes, meet other cycling families and friends, and discover some of South Birmingham’s hidden heritage sites by bike. Starting/finishing at Rowheath Pavilion, B30 1HH . Registration from 9.45am – Leaving promptly at 10am. 

Expect to be out for approx. 3-4hrs using cycle paths, green spaces, shared paths and a few quiet roads. Led by qualified ride leaders. We will ride at a gentle pace with plenty of pit stops and opportunities for refreshment/toilet breaks Bring snacks/picnic lunch. The ride is suitable for all the family (recommended for ages 5 years plus) participants should have basic bike handling skills and the ability to ride for 2-3hrs. Please note children will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult, and all participants must have their own bike and helmet to take part. 

How to get there
The start point for this ride is Rowheath Pavillion, close to the Rea Valley National Cycle Route 5 and Birmingham & Worcester Canal. We encourage you to ride to the start if possible – Bournville is the closest train station, and limited parking is available at the park and on local streets
