Highbury Mansion & Grounds (Highbury Hall)
Highbury is a Grade II* listed mansion in the suburbs of Birmingham. Its Venetian Gothic style, nature inspired motifs and exquisite craftsmanship make Highbury a real treat.
The Chamberlain Highbury Trust are embarking on a £10 million restoration programme of this exquisite building and gardens. Set in the 100 acre Highbury Park, the Chamberlain Highbury Estate is a cherished gem of urban Birmingham. On our Heritage Open Day 2023 we will open the doors to allow visitors to view the principal rooms as well as peeping behind the scenes at the 50 other rooms in desperate need of attention!
Designed by JH Chamberlain and showcasing the Venetian Gothic style, popularised by Ruskin; Highbury is full of motifs from nature intricately carved and inlayed on to multiple surfaces. We will explore the artists and craft people who designed and built Highbury and look at ways it is inspiring artists today.
There will be tours throughout the day (tour time 1 hour, 25 people per tour) and people on hand to demonstrate and lead interactive sessions.
