Explore Bournville’s green spaces with the Birmingham Ramblers
Join a 4.5 mile led walk exploring the parks and green spaces in and around Bournville.
In the early 20th century, the philanthropic Cadbury family moved their chocolate factory to Bournville and established a trust to build homes for their employees away from the polluted industrial centre of Birmingham. Bournville Village was designed to provide outdoor spaces to promote a healthy environment and places for people to enjoy and relax.
This walk visits The Ladies Garden, Cotteridge Community Park, Rowheath Sports ground and park, Bournville park, Bournville village green and the model boating pond.
Enjoy a leisurely walk through this leafy “Village” with a rest stop at Rowheath Pavillion for drinks and snacks which can be purchased at Rowheath Pavillion or bring your own refreshments.
This is an outdoor event so please bring suitable clothing for the varied weather and wear comfortable shoes or boots. We are walking through parks and neighbourhoods, expect uneven pavements, grassy areas, steps and some road crossing.
How to get there:
Bournville Station is on the Cross City line Lichfield and Trent Valley to and from Bromsgrove or Redditch. The no. 11 bus stops opposite Cadbury’s factory in front of the sports field. From Linden Road take Bournville Lane towards the factory and continue to the station to meet the group. Approx 300 metres. On-street parking is available on Bournville Lane.
This is a walk with limited spaces available, if you find you have booked a place but can no longer attend, please cancel your ticket on Eventbrite so we can pass on your ticket to someone else.
Organised by City of Birmingham Ramblers Group.
