Edgbaston Reservoir: Its origins and some famous names
We will look at why Thomas Telford was hired by a group of local businessmen to streamline James Brindley’s mainline canal and how the Reservoir was part of that vision. As we walk round we will explain some of the social and economic developments that led to Birmingham’s growth as a city, affecting the life of the Reservoir. We will also touch on the number of famous people who have been drawn to this beautiful location over the years.
There is plenty of parking in side streets. No direct bus service to Reservoir. No 80 from city centre is nearest travelling along Icknield Port Road.
