Digbeth, Public Art & Peaky Film
Visit the ancient area where Birmingham began as a market hamlet. Experience atmospheric parts and understand the industrial heritage and get a feel for this bohemian part of Birmingham. See public art of all descriptions, as well as canals and modern developments. See the HS2 railway line being built. The area is soon to be the film set for the Peaky Blinder feature film produced by Stephen Knight as well as the home of the TV series Masterchef. The coming of HS2 and the Metro and the modernity of this place as it becomes ever more part of the city centre, adds to tour interest.
The tour is conducted by Jonathan Berg, author and photographer. Jonathan’s book on the public art of Birmingham is due to be published in November 2023. The tour is a 2-hour walking tour from the city centre to Digbeth and Deritend. Total route is between 3-4 km.
