Colmore Life: Heritage Walking Tour

Stop one: The Giants of Birmingham.
We’ll meet at Victoria Square before gathering in Chamberlain Square to explore four of Birmingham’s most influential figures: Iron:Man Sculpture – Newly returned James Watt Statue -Newly Joseph Priestley Statue -Thomas Attwood Statue.

Stop two: Birmingham Town Hall & the Council House
We’ll explore Birmingham’s rise from market town to industrial powerhouse, learning about the classical architecture, Queen Victoria’s influence on the city’s growth and the store behind the famous fountain, officially known as ‘The River.’

Stop three: Margaret Street
We’ll be sharing our insights Birmingham’s culture of self-improvement and learning, viewing key buildings including the Birmingham & Midland Institute and the historic School of Art. 

Stop four: St Phillip’s Cathedral and Cathedral Square
One of Birmingham’s oldest surviving buildings, we’ll be exploring the cathedral’s connection to Birmingham’s growth during the 18th century and Edward Burne-Jones’ world-famous stained glass windows. 

Stop five: Church Street Square and its surrounds
A modern public space that has become a focal point within the business district, including the handsome Victorian Building of the former Birmingham Eye Hospital.
