Birmingham Buddhist Vihara. The Dhamma Talaka Peace Pagoda
The Dhamma Talaka Peace Pagoda is a replica of Shwedagon Pagoda in Yagon (Rangoon) in Myanmar (Burma) where Theravada Buddhism (Old School, Southern Buddhism) is practised. It was officially opened in 1989. The Pagoda is celebrating its Silver Jubilee in July 2023. Under the stupa is a hall with a shrine where religious ceremonies take place. There are two other buildings in the grounds. Sangharam Vihara is where the resident monks reside and the other Rewata Dhamma Hall where higher Buddhist teachings take place.
