Backstage Tour at The Crescent Theatre

Come and sneak a peek at what goes on behind the scenes at a working theatre. Learn about the Crescent’s century of theatre-making in Birmingham and see how, as one of the oldest theatre companies in the city, we bring it all together for a show.

Although our building in the Brindleyplace development (actually our third home) is modern, our resident theatre company, The Crescent Theatre Company, is 102 years old! On the 31st January 1924, Birmingham city council employees first met to discuss the formation of a dramatic society. From humble beginnings, this grew to become The Crescent that we know and love today. Since then, we have entertained troops and auxiliary services during World War II, set up a successful youth theatre, and even had our members featured in that favourite of ’90s TV – ‘Brum!’

Come and enjoy a tour of a bold, Brummie theatre, including material from our archives!
