Step inside the 1874 Roundhouse
Step inside the Roundhouse dating back to 1874, as a Virtual Visitor during Birmingham Heritage Week. Originally built by the Birmingham Corporation and later used as a council depot, you can now explore this curious crescent shaped building at your own convenience from mobile, tablet or computer – anywhere in the world.
The building is now in the care of Roundhouse Birmingham, a new organisation created through a partnership between the National Trust and Canal & River Trust, which will turn the site into a new hub for leisure and enterprise. The project is support by National Lottery Heritage Fund. More information can be found here
Last summer, the team from ScanTech Digital visited the Roundhouse to document the building before the start of building work. Using a mix of fascinating technology they have created a 3D model which acts as a striking record of the Roundhouse’s condition before undergoing a much needed facelift!
You can explore on a virtual tour every day of the week if you visit here
