Journeys to Balsall Heath & The Lost Children
This display by the Balsall Heath Local History Society will have a focus on migration:
1. The Lost Children- the story of over 5000 children emigrated by the Middlemore Homes in Highgate chiefly to Canada between 1873 & 1948. Also a chance to buy the newly published book which features stories of the children and what became of them.
2. Journeys to Balsall Heath. Understanding the people that live in an area, and knowing the journeys that they, and their families have taken, helps us to understand the differences and similarities between us, as a community. We are piecing together a tapestry of stories and memories of people who came to make this their home.
There will also be large photos of old Balsall Heath on display.
