Discover Church of the Ascension, Stirchley
Come and take a look inside the church which was designed by Romilly Craze and consecrated in 1973. See the area war memorial and stained glass and items from the original church which was burnt and demolished in 1965. Then take tea on the Green outside the Church. 1921 marks the beginning of an intense period of municipal building by Birmingham City Council which includes the building of Dads Lane Estate. The mission church of St Hugh’s (now the church hall – next to the church) was consecrated in 1927 and was at the heart of the estate. This event marks the start of centenary celebrations on the Estate.
