Walking John Madin’s 1960s vision for the Hagley Road Commercial District
This 1.5 mile walk will take in the best of John Madin’s architecture around Five Ways. We will be able to identify how his vision for the new commercial area was realised on the ground and include other exceptional public and commercial buildings of the period, culminating in a stroll down Broad Street. The buildings cover architecture from the 1960s to the late 1970s and we will examine how styles changed in this period.
