Highbury Park – ‘The History Within’
You are invited to a Kings Heath History Society guided walk; ‘Highbury Park the History Within’.
This will be a guided walk exploring the development of the park from 19th Century rural idyll to modern day public park. We will look at evidence of the previous uses and features of the park some of which are now lost from view, whilst others have left footprints or remain intact. The grounds are grade II listed on the English Heritage register of parks and gardens of special historical interest and are currently undergoing restoration thanks to external funding and the work of the Chamberlain Highbury Trust.
Date & Time
Tues 14 Sept | 10.30am–12pm
The walk will start at the notice board in the car park which is accessed from Shutlock Lane. Highbury Park, Shutlock Lane, Moseley, B13 8NZ
The park is generally accessible via footpaths and improvements to these have recently been made by the Chamberlain Highbury Trust. Good waterproof footwear is recommended as the ground may be uneven in parts and some areas of the park may be wet. Please bring protective mask and hand sanitiser if required. Parking is available free of charge in the car park within the park (accessed via the Shutlock Lane entrance).
