Ford Maddox Brown; A Pre-Raphaelite?
The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood was a group of young men associated with The Royal Academy Schools, who, for a few short years shared an idea of what art should be.
A decade their senior, Brown (1821 – 1893) grew up in France, influenced by European painting and never joined the PRB.
He was attracted to their vision and shared their ideas, but did that make him a Pre Raphaelite?
Christine Moosavi addresses this question with a talk enriched with images from his lengthy career.
