St Agatha’s Open Day

Spectacular Neo-Gothic grade I listed church designed by Birmingham architect W.H. Bidlake, opened in 1901. Guides will be on hand to answer questions also display on church history.

This historic church was built to house an Anglo-Catholic congregation, and from its beginning to the present day, the Anglo-Catholic tradition has been upheld. The building is a hidden gem, mentioned in the letters of John Betjeman. Most of our visitors are surprised by just how beautiful the building is! The organ is amazing too. Come and see and hear for yourself.

Each Sunday, Mass is celebrated at 11 am. Visitors are always welcome. If you do not wish to participate, then we ask you to behave respectfully while worship occurs. It is the best time to hear the organ.

Covid-19 We are able to provide social distancing as we have a very large building and people can keep a safe distance from each other. With 2 metre social distancing measures we are still able to accommodate 50 people, any more than that and people can queue outside! We have a good website and communications, so are offering a virtual church experience this year, as well as a real visit.
