British Sounds (1969)
Stuart Whipps discusses the restoration of a 1979 Mini by way of processing the closure of the Longbridge motor works. Followed by a screening of Jean-Luc Godard’s British Sounds, shot in February 1969 for television, the film offers a political, non-narrative take on British car manufacturing. This screening coincides with Stuart Whipps’ The Kipper and the Corpse. Supported by Film Hub Midlands, ITV, Kestrel Films and with thanks to the BFI.
