Launch of: Round & about Centenary Square
Come to the launch of a brand new city walking tour with author and photographer Jonathan Berg!
Understand today’s city, its people and current activities. Key pieces of public art and architecture on Centenar Square help us understand more about the Georgian and Victorian origins of Birmingham. We visit the ICC and look at the many other experiences and events that this vibrant and cosmopolitan city has to offer. At the canal side we look at the huge impact it had on the industrialisation of Birmingham. The atmospheric Gas Street Basin is a great place for photography and to learn about the influence of Birmingham on popular culture
We consider the work of John Baskerville and his love of print and of Boulton, Watt and Murdoch with their improved steam engines and many other inventions of the ‘age of enlightenment’.
Tours may use an audio system and if so you can bring your own earphones or purchase a pair for £1 at the start of the tour.
This walk is organised by Positively Birmingham who support Sifa Fireside, a Birmingham based charity providing support and services to homeless adults in Birmingham.
