Discovering Birmingham – a Walk and More
Understand how Birmingham developed and see that many of today’s ways of working have deep roots in our past. In particular we explore:
• Earlier times – medieval origins
• From Georgian entrepreneurs to Victorian idealists
• Jewellery Quarter
• Canal city
• An artistic side
• Developing for the future.
This walk starts and ends at the Library of Birmingham in Centenary Square. Content is loosely based on the new tourist guide Discovering Birmingham. A copy of the guide book is included in the ticket price (book normally £5). Tours may use an audio system and if so you can bring your own earphones or purchase a pair for £1 at the start of the tour.
This 1 ½ hour walking tour gives a great introduction to the city and will be of interest equally to local people and visitors alike.
