You may remember our award winning photographic exhibition in Snow Hill Square, celebrating the work of Birmingham female photographer, Phyllis Nicklin. The exhibition displayed some of the images taken by Nicklin during the 1950s and 60s. The images are visually stunning and of huge historical importance.
To continue the celebration of female photographers we will be showing a feature length documentary about one of Nicklin’s contemporary’s, Vivian Maier. Maier, based in New York, was a mysterious character who secretly took over 100,000 photographs that were hidden in storage lockers and discovered decades later. Maier is now considered among the twentieth century’s greatest photographers. We’ll be showing this film in the fabulous theatre in the Birmingham Midland Institute.
